Hi Connie, I have extensive information about the decendants of Joseph Boyce. FROM GRAVESEND ENGLAND TO BARBADOS IN THE "EXPEDITION" 11/20/1635. GRANTED 10 ACRES IN SALEM, MA. 7/10/1640. BECAME A MEMBER OF 1st CHURCH, SALEM 4/4/1640. ADMITTED FREEMAN 5/18/1642. ASSOCIATED WITH QUAKERS 1661. DISCHARGED FROM MILITARY TRAINING ON ACCOUNT OF HIS TRADE AS A TANNER 12/26/1648. HE WAS FINED 12/10/1661 AND AGAIN 11/28/1662 FOR "ABSENCE FROM MEETING" AT THE 1st CHURCH. AT THIS TIME HE WAS PERMITTING THE MEETINGS OF THE SOCIETY OF FRIENDS TO BE HELD AT HIS HOME.
The New England Historical and Genealogical Register, vol. 14, pp.357-358 contains a list of men who were to be transported from England to Barbados. This list, dated Nov. 20, 1635, mentions Joesph Boyce, aged 24 years. He appears to be the Joseph Boyce. who deposed in Essex Co., Mass., June 25, 1669, aged about 60 years. Ages mentioned in shiping lists and depositions are not always reliable. It seems safe to assume that Joseph Boyce was born about 1610. Eleanor's last name was Plover. Please contact me for more information.
