Kathy,
Also Kansas had a state census taken every ten years right between the Federal Census. In other words, 1875, 1885, 1895. Since the 1890 Federal census are gone the 1895 census helps. The bad part is I don't think you can get the Kansas State Census outside of Kansas. Maybe you can find someone who will look for you.
