Hmm, Seymour's column or not? Well according to the casualty list I have, all HMS Orlando's casualties were sustained at Langfang. I wonder what sources were used for the monument's inscription?
To shed some light on the circumstances, one source I have is the despatch written by Admiral Seymour from Tientsin on 27th June.

When I have a moment over the weekend, I'll see if I can scan it and email it to you.
