Boxhull-Baxshell Link? (Sussex, Eng.)

Boxall/Boxell/Boxshall all seem to be forms of Boxhull, an ancient family of Salehurst, Sussex. Sus. Arch. Colls. v.48 says my Baxshell family also comes from Boxhull. But elsewhere SAC says Baxshell is from Bacca's Shelf, a landform in Lindfield; and the name appears there ca.1300 as de Bakshelve. Who knows the answer?
