Linda, I'm interested in Jonathan Box of GA too. He married Elizabeth Goodwin, sister of John Goodwin, who I believe to be brother of my direct ancestor, Crafford Goodwin of SC, TN and MS. Crafford's brother John "went to Georgia". "The Goodwin Families in America" (two volumes) describes a John G. who went from SC to KY to GA and had a sister Elizabeth who married a (blank) Box.
From the International Genealogical Index, I learned his name was Jonathan. Now, Boxes and Goodwins lived near each other in Laurens and Newberry districts SC and I propose that they are the families I spoke of earlier. The IGI also shows that Elizabeth and Jonathan Box moved to MO and had three sons grow up there--Hardy, Maston and Wiley. I know nothing more of them; your note indicates they had a daughter (or daughters) as well. In copied pages from "The Box Book" by Ophelia Wade, there's one mention of a Jonathan Box in Laurens Co.C, were he witnessed sale of land by Wiseman Box. This Wiseman Box lived near Edward and Henry Box in Laurens. What can you tell me about old Jonathan? I'm tracking him because it helps me place my Goodwins in Laurens. DAVE GOODWIN in CA
