DANIEL RENFRO BOX, was born 9 Oct. 1821, in Jefferson Co., TN, the son of SAMUEL BOX, JR.(b.1789 Orange Co NC;d.1873, Polk Co., MO) and JEMIMA (MURPHY) BOX. Daniel R. Box died 14 January, 1909, in Polk Co., MO. Daniel married married three times; first to PARTHENIA MCGEE in 1838 in TN. They had ten children: James Clayborn, b. 1839; Josiah, b. 1841; George Washington, b. 1843; Mary Jane, b. 1845; William Riley, b. 1847; Franklin Murphy, b. 1849; Andrew Jackson, b. 1851; Rhoada Adeline, b. 1853; John W., b. 1855 & Hannah, b. 1857. This family was in Polk Co., MO by 1860. Parthenia died and in 1862 Daniel married a second time, to SARAH GRIFFIN, and they had three children: Samuel, b. 1862; Mandelia Caroline, b. 1864 & Thomas, b. 1865. Sarah Griffin Box died 20 Oct. 1867 and Daniel married a third time, to SARAH (CHESSER) MOORE,in 1873. They had one child, Ara Belle, b. 1874. Daniel Renfro Box is buried at Mitchell Campground Cemetery, Polk Co., MO with all three wives buried around him. I am MOST interested in corresponding with descendants of Daniel Renfro Box, as I write and publish a BOX family newsletter, BOX BEGINNINGS, that deals with members of this family.
