#1780 John Morris Box, was born in South Carolina, presumed son of Robert Sr. and Mary Williams. ( He was probably the male under 16 in Robt. Box, Sr's household. In a family bible, "Bible of the Box Family of Houston & Anderson Co., Texas" published in 1815, now in possession of Mrs Jessie F. Box of Letexo, Texas (1961 copied by Edna Box Riley), we find John M. Box, born 7 Aug 1780, died 12 July 1842 (62 yrs) in Palestine, Anderson County, TX. (Some say Cherokee Co. but it is possibly just on the line between the two.) His Wife, Sally Mary Morris, born 26 Dec 1784 died17 Dec 1847, in Palestine, Anderson County, TX. (place and date of marriage is disputed.) Rachael Banks was reported in this reference as being John M. Box's first wife married in Laurens Co. SC, 7 Oct 1802 and Sally Mary Morris being his second wife married 20 Jun 1827. .
Six Children are listed for John Morris Box and Rachael Banks. He lived in South Carolina and that we conclude by the birth of his 1st two children, Rolen W. Box, b. 10 Dec 1803, and John Asbury, b. 11 Jan 1805. We find John M. Box in the 1805 GA. Land Lottery in Franklin Co. GA. (to be included in this lottery, he had to be a resident for 1 year but there was a dispute between S. C. and GA. at this time. ) We know that he had property on the Tugaloo River in SC and could have allowed his to claim the land in Georgia. We also, know that he was in TN in 1811, because of the birth of his 3rd & 4th children, Samuel Charles b. 10 May 1811, TN and James Edward b. 5 Jan 1814, TN. His son William S. and a daughter, b. 1815 Blount Co. AL
In US Gen Land Records we find John Box, 1 Oct 1823 with land acquired in Blount Co. AL, 80.1 ac from the Huntsville Land Office, paying cash. Information from archives.
