Gerri, There are a couple of tidbits that may not mean anything but are leads to explore. There was a George Doherty in Augusta Co. VA whose wife was a Williams with a brother named George. Hester Williams, widow of James Williams, indicated she had a son named George. So it is possible the wife of Robert Box of Rabons Creek could have been the sister of the wife of the elder George Doherty. And it was a George Doherty, presumably a son of the elder George previously mentioned, that exercised the Power of Attorney to sell land in Greene County TN for Robert Box of Laurens County SC. It seems the younger George Doherty was also a surveyor in the 2nd Survey District of TN along with Stephen Box, Joseph Box, Robert Box, and Henry Box in the time frame of 1807-1809.
