Linda, I interpret the phrase in the Will of John Box: "...I give the tract of land whereon I now Live to my two granddaughters, Rachel Box and Louisa Box daughters of Jemima Box...." to mean Jemima Box was the wife of John Box Jr., who was probably deceased when the Will was written. There are deeds of John Box Sr. dated before the Will: In a deed dated 31 October 1807 but not recorded until 18 November 1808 in Book J, page 41, John Box, Senr. sold to Zechariah Arnold for $400, 75 acres originally granted to Robert Box, on west side of Reedy River. Witness: W. Downs and William Moore. D. R. or Rachel (x) Box. Jonthn. Downs, J. Q. (taken from Wade's The Box Book pg 208) And there is a deed of John Box Jr. also dated before the Will: 28 Nov 1804 Box, John Jr., Plat for 162 acres on branches of Raburns Creek, Laurens District, surveyed by John Rodgers, bordered by Boyd, William; Cole. Solomon. http://www.archivesindex.sc.gov/onlinearchives/RecordDetail.aspx?RecordId=213224 John Box, in his Will also refers to his daughter, Jemima Sneid, but does not mention her children.
