I saw you query today and although it has been quite some time since you posted it I thought that I would try to help you with additional information. You can go on the internet and :United States vs. Ball or United States vs. Boutwell and you should find anything you are searching for. This became quite a famous case involving "Double Jeopardy". It is quite interesting. I have several letters that were written by W.T. Bocx's daughters in the late 1800's in which they refer to the murder of W.T. Box.
