My grandmother's maiden name was BOXX, she was born in Doctors Inlet, Clay Co, FL. As was her father(Sherwood S. BOXX), her grandfather(John Walter BOXX) was born in Belmont, Hamilton, FL. The reason I convey all this is that his father William Jackson BOXX was born 4 AUG 1838 in Lowndes Co, GA. His father Hansford BOXX or BOX (this is where the spelling is unsure) because all we have is an approximate dob as [1812] and place of birth is unknown; that's as far back as we have been able to find becase same as you we don't know where they were before GA. I don't know if this will help but the county is the same.
