Researching something else, I found this report on NARA film M234 roll 375 from Capt. Andrew Sheridan, dated 10/1/1866. He reports on a mission by Lt. Wesselberger, 3rd U.S. Infantry, who recovered two captive girls from the Kiowa Indians. The names given are:

Margaret Box age 17
Maizie Josephine Box age 13

Lt. Wesselberger states that the mother and a sister remain captives of the Indians and that the father was killed at the time of their capture.

I have not had the opportunity to transcribe this and hopefully can get it this week. Also, although I ran out of quarters, a copy of Lt. Wesselberger is on the film also. Hopefully I can get that also. If anyone already has these documents transcribed, drop me a line so we don't duplicate efforts.

Best of wishes,

Billy Markland

P.S. Not a BOX researcher, just thought someone might be interested in this information.
