Dear Gary,
It was very nice to hear from you. I was born in the mid-south (Memphis); lived from age 3-13 in Texas (big Drawl state); then spent the next 14 years in and around New Orleans. My husband and I moved to Idaho and were very happy in the Magic Valley ( an area about 60 miles south of Sun Valley). For a year we lived closer to your country, when we lived in Moscow, Idaho while my husband went back to school. That was back in 1992. Unfortunately for my husband,he loves Idaho so, we had to move because of my health. We now reside in Missouri a borderline "yankee" state. But I still cherish my southern roots. My accent is not nearly as strong as it use to be, but it floods right back if I go visit in Memphis or nearby for very long.
I have not got very far in my Box connection yet. My maternal gfthr was a Box and lived most of his life(if not all) in nothern Mississippi. I know that he is listed on a census as a young boy in mississippi. But whether he was born there or in Tennessee I don't know. I just found out this year that his father's name was John and the namesof his brothers and sister.
I don't know what country my Boxes origionated from. I remember hearing stories that they could have origionally been Bach from germany and got translated to Bachs - Box. But that was just a theory I think.
I've traced back 8 generations on one paternal line to North Carolina in the mid 1600's and back 7 generations on one maternal line. This family was originally from the Scotch-Irish area of Ireland. I just wish that I had more time to work on it.
I'll try to directly e-mail you my e-mail address. If for some reason,I don't get through, contact me through the forum.
I'd love to have a copy of the map by the way.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year's to you and your family also.
Be talking with you( but probably not too soon)
Your Fellow Box under the skin.
Paula Jean Hollis Myers
