Boxes from Germany

It seems that all the Boxes I see are from England. My Box relatives swear they are German and even named their children with typical German names. Can anyone shed light on the German vs English Box names? Earliest Box relative I can find is in 1870 Missouri census - one Lucinda Box (widow) with two teenage sons, Jonathan and James Russell (my line).
Thanks.
