I'll tell you all I know. My father Ralph Box (will be 85 next month) His father was Joseph born in 1888. His grandfather was Fred. My Dad does not have any more information about Fred's family. This he wants to find out. The only things he remembers about his grandfather Fred is that he was a conductor on the Wabash Railroad before being a coal miner. He was involved in a train wreck that left him with both arms broken a his bottom lip bit in two (the doctor sewed it back together). The next thing you may have an opportunity to check on. My Dad remembers that Fred had a brother named Joe. He ran a pool hall in Hiteman. My Dad said that he (Joe) also changed the spelling to Baux. He has no other knowledge of his grandfather's mother or father. Perhaps you could check the census to see if Fred had a brother Joe.
