Does anyone have info on this Burgess/Bowyer/Browning family? This will be a little long... I have a handwritten sheet, written by my grandmother, that lists the following: --------------------------------------- Family Record Joseph Burgess --------------------------------------- Joseph Burgess, b. 1752, d.1779 m. 1773 Catherine Pangle b. 10 Mar 1757 Children: Elizabeth Burgess b. 21 Nov 1775 Catherine Burgess b. 16 Oct 1777 Christian Burgess b. 24 Jun 1779 ====================================== Family Record Engle Bowyer --------------------------------------- Engle Bowyer, b. 6 Nov 1736, d.12 Jul 1822 m. 1767 Pierces Henton, b. 6 Nov 1743, d. 20 Oct 1779 Children: Barbara Bowyer, b.23 Jan 1769 Abner Bowyer, 11 Sep 1770, d. 17 Oct 1771 Pierces Bowyer, 15 Aug 1772, d. 1819 Mary Bowyer, 27 Oct 1774 Charlotte Bowyer, b. 27 Jun 1777 George Bowyer, 3 Oct 1779, d. 8 Jul 1851 ======================================= Engle Bowyer [2nd marriage] --------------------------------------- Engle Bowyer, b. 6 Nov 1736 m. Cathering Burgess, d. 1 Apr 1814 Childeren: Susannah Bowyer, b. 18 Aug 1782, d. 24 Mar 1886 Ann Bowyer, b. 5 May 1785, d. 30 Jul 1821 Henry Bowyer, b. 28 Mar 1786 Sophia Bowyer, b. 16 Jan 1788, d. 1 Oct 1849 Phebe Bowyer, b. 6 Oct 1790, d. 16 Apr 1836 Abner Bowyer, b. 9 Feb 1793, d. 14 Jun 1825 Engle Bowyer, Jr., b. 22 Dec 1795 Margaret Bowyer, b. 9 Mar 1798 Rachel Bowyer, 12 Mar 1800, d. 13 Nov 1839 Amelia Bowyer, b. 5 Aug 1802 [Note at the bottom of the page:] "Engle Bowyer was my great great grandfather. Amelia Bowyer was my great grandmother and the mother of my grandmother Caroline Olive Browning. She married Abram Vlerebnome - my mother's father. My mother Bessie Eugenia Vlerebome (Shoop)" -------------------end--------------------------- Interpreted, with additional data I know: Amelia m. Oliver Wallace Browning. dau. Caroline Olive Browning m. Abram Vlerebome dau. Bessie Eugenia Vlerebome m. John Newton Shoop dau. Hazel Caroline Shoop Hazel Caroline (Shoop) Bice was my grandmother who hand-wrote this family sheet. She lived to be almost 101 years old and was quite lucid till the end. I want any documentation that would enable me to qualify for the DAR, something my granddaugher IS REALLY EXCITED ABOUT DOING. Oliver Wallace Browning qualifies via father: (JOHN3 BROWNING (FRANCES2 NORMAN, ISAAC1) was born 4/16/1749 in Culpeper Co., Virginia, and died 9/25/1813 in Culpeper Co., Virginia. He married ELIZABETH STROTHER 8/1774 in Culpeper Co., Virginia. She was born Abt. 1760 in Virginia. However, I need qualifying, documentation of these marriages and birth certificates and haven't a clue where these events took place... Virginia? Illinois? Ohio? What towns? If anyone has any additional information about this, I would certainly appreciate it. Perhaps there are qualifying members in the Burgess and Bowyers family... haven't really checked that out. Hope my info helps sort out the confusions. Caroline Notify Administrator about this message?
