I have Abraham Bowyer as the man who started Bowyers in Trowbridge, Wiltshire. I read one account that said he started his business in 1808 as a grocer. He became a bacon curer. His wife was Esther Markes. Abraham had sons Jabez 1817, John 1819, and Elijah 1821. There may have been more children; I didn't find them. Here are a few links to stories about the Bowyer business http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/community/getcom.php?id=228
