James Bowyer married 1852 Liverpool

I have a marriage certificate for James BOWYER on 5 August 1852 (to Mary GOULD)at St Nicholas church, Liverpool. He is of 'full age' and a mariner. Address is Carlton Street, Liverpool. His father is listed as Samuel also a mariner.
The 1881 census gives James' birthplace as Neston, Cheshire, but then I am stuck. The IGI has no James with father Samuel in Liverpool or Neston, Cheshire.
Or would anyone be willing to check the 1841 and 1851 census returns for BOWYER and GOULD living in Carlton Street, Liverpool, for me, please?
