I believe John Bowser and Sarah Hewson are
my great-great grandparents. I also believe they
had more than one son, one of whom would
be Robert Bowser m. Mary Bailey, who are my great-
grandparents. Bowser/Bailey also had a daughter
Lucinda who never married, and they had quite a
few sons, including my grandfather Frank Ernest
Bowser and also a son with either the lst or middle
name Hewson. Family referred to him as Hewson.
Although from birth records it says my grandfather
Frank Ernest Bowser was born in Harrowgate, his
parents earlyon moved to Hull, England where his
father Robert had a successful trade carving wooden
coffins, including undertaking, and specializing as well
in free-standing curved staircases in some of the
best homes of that era. In their last years Robert,
his wife Mary and their unmarried daughter Lucinda
retired to Withernsea near Hull and bought a house
there. Withernsea is a small village north of Hull.
My grandparents Frank Ernest and Margaret Bowser
married in Victoria B.C., had one son Robert Sutherland Bowser, and later moved to Oakland, California, ending up in Santa Cruz, California.
I do have a beautiful professional photograph that
was taken of Robert and Mary Bowser and their grown children & some grandchildren in front of their home in
Hull, England somewhere near the time of World War I.
Hull is in E. Yorkshire, not very far from York England.
So if I understand, the Lucinda you wrote about
would be the sister of my great grandfather Robert.
Was she the Great Aunt I've heard about who was
a published poet or writer perhaps?
Hope this information helps you in your research.
