Martie, My next question is, which John Bowne built the Bowne House, then? It was my understanding that My John Bowne, s/o William Bowne got in heaps of trouble for advocating for the Quaker's right to worship their religion. His father-in-law, Obadiah Holmes, was also an advocate for religious freedom and had converted to the Baptist faith, and actually spent the rest of his life as a baptist preacher in Rhode Island and in new Jersey, where he had homes and family. He got in trouble too, because of religious related activities. Interestingly, there's a quaker meeting house near the Bowne house. This is what led me to the conclusion that is was my John Bowne who built that house. Do you have evidence on which John Bowne actually DID build the house? Thanks, Susan
