I'm looking for any information on the Bown Family from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. My great great grandmother was Maria Susanna Bown. Her family was from Sydney Mines, Cape Breton. She married Henry George Boutilier in Sydney. They came to the U.S. via Shamokin, PA and on to Britt, Iowa. They are both buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.
Family legend says that Maria married beneath her station and that her family disinherited her. Do not know if this a fact.
