Hi Nancye,

You're welcome. In the presence of Peter (it was most likely his son or a brother (he also had a brother named Peter). We don't know for sure who his father is, but most researchers think that it was probably John J. Bowmer of Fauquier, VA. (Be careful while researching this family, you could easily find the same people listed with spellings of Bomar, Bomer, Bowmar, Bowman etc.) John J.'s probate did not disclose a list of the children, according to others who have read the papers. I have not personally seen the probate papers myself, but I believe the information that I have seen. I don't consider myself an expert on this family. Most of the information I have gotten has been dug out on the internet. Genforum is a great site, the people who post are usually knowledgeable and generous about sharing. I always try to either get a record of everthing (copy of will, birth listing, death certificate, marriage certificate, etc) I just haven't sent for the information on John J. (ie probate papers, since the info I am seeking was not there). You do have to be careful because there is some erroneous info on the net. You have to do some digging and getting confirmation on your "leads". As I said before, Linda Hansen is a good researcher and you can see all her postings and get alot of reliable information. Getting a copy of Peter's will is a good example of gathering primary proof. Hope this answers your question. Let me know if you need any more help. Patty
