1. PETER2 BOWMER (J. JOHN1) was born Abt. 1734 in Fauquier County , Virginia, and died May 1812 in Fauquier County , Virginia. He married REBECCA SHACKELFORD Abt. 1754 in Culpeper County, Virginia. She was born Abt. 1735, and died Bef. 1812.

Peter first appears about 1750 in Culpeper Comty, Virginia..
Page 49-50 Robert Latham Orphan of Jolm Latham - Guardians Account- 1750 - To casb paid Peter Bowmer for covering a house and getting the board.

In 1756 - Peter and Rebecca and their daughter Frances lease a piece of property from John Shackleford for life. This may be Rebeccas father. film # 30943 B - 474

There is also a deed in Orange County deed Book 17 page 332-333

Peter Bowmer Will - Fauquier County Virginia 1812

In the name of God, Amen. I Peter Bowmer of Fauquier County being of perfect mind and memory do hereby make my last will and testament in manner and from following viz: First: To my Grand Daughter Rebekah Read who now lives with me I give one Negro Girl Mariah one feather bed and furniture, one bay horse and her Saddle and Bridle and to her heirs forever. 2nd - After my decease I desire by land may be sold and the Monies arising from such sale together with all the rest described of my estate of what nature or kind soever, be divided into six equal parts and after deducting from one of these sixth parts the sum of sixty-pounds current Money, on account of a Negro Woman Eleanor given by me to my late son George Bowmer dec'd and also the amount of a debt paid by me for my dec'd son of between forty-eight and forty-nine pounds I give the remainder of that one sixth part to be equally divided among all the children of my said son George Bowmer dec'd namely Birkett, Susannah,!
Charles, Elijah, Rebekah, Polly and Peter and to their heirs forever - 3rd - All the rest and residue of my Estate , not heretofore given namely the other five sixths parts I give and dispose of in the following manner, namely to my daughter Frances wife of Thomas Spilman I give one sixth part to my daughter Sarah wife of James Read, I lend the use of one part during her natural life and after her decease I give her one sixth part to be equally divided among all the children of the said Daughter Sarah. To my Daughter Jane wife of William McLeod I give one sixth part. To my daughter Rebekah widow of Samuel Wharton dec'd I give one sixth part And to my Daughter Polly wife of Richard R. Cornett, I give one sixth part am(sp?) to their heirs forever. 4th - Whereas my Daughter, Susanna who intermarried with John McCormick and my Daughter Jemima who intermarried with Marshall Petty have both departed this life, having each of them only two children living, and having in a forme!
r Division of my Estate given to them more than an equal proportion with the rest of the grand children, it is my wish that they should receive no part of my present estate. Lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my consient(sp?) son Thomas Spilman and Richard R. Cornett executors of this my last will and testament hereby working all other or former wills or testaments by me heretofore made.
