I am going to talk about another theory on the Bowmans in Tucker Co.WVa. Please look at the Martin Bowman family in Hardy Co. Va. He was a Capt. in the Rev. War out of Lancaster Pa. who moved his family down to Va. after the war. His daughter Mary Bowman married Matthew Gilmore and had children, David, Peter and William Gilmore who all ended up in Randolph co. Va. now Tucker Co. Va.(David married Elizabeth Neville Reay and was an early settler in Tucker Co.-William married a Wiles in Randolph Co. and died young and his widow married Enoch Minear in Tucker Co.-Peter married in Randolph Co. too and moved to Green Co. Pa.) Also, Martin had a son named Peter Bowman who married Martha Bonnifield. Their daughter Elizabeth Bowman married John Neville Jr. and they resided in Tucker co. In records on Martin Bowman and his will - he has a son named Adam Bowman. In an article on Mt. Storm by Idleman, he mentions old man Bowman living there. I wonder if that could be Adam Bowman or possibly Martin Bowman.I do know that the Neville family who had connections with the Bowman family had an estate at Mt. Storm. I know the History of Tucker co. states Adam was a son of George, but there are a lot of mistakes in the county history books.
