Found a Bowles-L Archives from Linne Gravestock on
Subject: Bowles,Celestia and Merida: Ala and Miss
Date: Wed 16 Jul 1997

The letter is about Merida Bowles escape from bother/father
Chief Bowles and her two marriages to the Fudge Family.

It tells about Celita Barger, second wife of Burgess Bowles
Celita's maiden name is Harkins. She is the daughter of Daniel Harkins and Melinda McCracken. This was a lucky find for my search on Celita.

Their is a Melinda Bowles who stays with her Uncle B. W. Harkins. It is a little confusing on who her mother is.
I believe the mother is Melinda Harkins Bowles and marries a Bowles in TX and Smith in MS (1836-1860). The Bowles in TX is killed and she returns to MS.

If anyone knows anything about Acelease K. Ake Bowles please post the imformation.
