The child was a daughter, named Nellie. I believe the child died at a young age because there is a small tombstone with the name Baby Nellie beside the tombstone of Ethelbert jr. and Margaret Bowie who were the child's grandparents. Priscilla and Hubert were first cousins. Hubert's mother was Ella Bowie who was the sister of Ethelbert. I don't know what happened to Priscilla; she may have moved to Virginia. This is where she spent part of her pregnancy with friends/relatives. The Bowies were acquitted using the "unwritten law" of defense of hearth and home. The jury only deliberated about ten minutes before delivering a verdict. The story made the newspapers all across the country.
