UPDATE: Per another Bowie researcher, there were actually "two sets" of "John and James Bowie brothers" in Caroline Co., VA in the 1700s. As such, I would assume that the Elizabeth Bowie who married James Smith (died 1819) COULD have been out of any one of these four men. I understand that, IF these "two sets" of brothers were related, the "common connection" MIGHT have been back in Scotland (if not up in MD).
