Researching my Bowie line from Charles Co. Md. which seems to originate in Durham Parish. One group from this line which was descended from Rhoda/Rhody Bowie moved to the Abbeville District of S.Carolina late 1700's or early 1800's. This line is supposed to have begun with Abraham Boey/Bowie of Scotland his son John Bowie Sr. was born in Charles Co. Md. about 1725 and married Elizabeth Brawner. He died in 1781. They had six children that I know of Oswell (my progenitor), John Jr., William, Alexander, Matthew, and Rhody mentioned above. My line continues to Isaac born about 1775, to Ethelbert Sr. born about 1806, to Ethelbert Jr. born about 1847 and to my grandfather Robert Henry Bowie, all of Charles County, Md. Any info past or present appreciated.
