The DAR in Washington has a 1928 letter from Asa Bowie grandson of James Price Bowie (1808-1879) who says his father was Eli Bowie. Eli, founder of Gilgal Church, had 8 children including an Asa. I don't know if these are your relatives--they aren't mine.
