Bowes family, Co. Durham, UK
Hi, My maiden name is Bowes. I can trace my family back to 921 AD. My Grandfather, Robert T Bowes commissioned a book to be written back in the 1930,s. It was all hand written, took years to research and chronicles all the Bowes family since we came over (from France) with William the Conqueror. The Book is huge and is the only one in the world, totally unique. Arcubus de Bows was the origin of the surname and he was the first entry in the book. Co. Durham is the area of England. My lineage is through George Bowes, his daughter Mary Eleanor (we have the same birthday, not the same year!) through to the Queen Mother. We came from the second son etc etc so not not much claim to fame. I could give lots of help if anyone out there is looking to trace this particular family tree. I also have one or two questions if I connect to the right person. One question would be regarding one of Mary Eleanor's son's, George. He was the second oldest, I have his bith cert. We come from that line. His elder brother Thomas inherited the title, Earl of Strathmore. I could go on but I will wait to hear from someone first.
