St. Charles (Illinois) Review, 6 July 1878

"Prince," Frank Stewart's old dog, begins to show the marks of age. He is sixteen years old. Jealousy will no longer permit him to remain at home, because another dog is tolerated there. When the new pet came, old "Prince" arose in his majesty, administered a severe thrashing to him, an departed to take refuge with Dite Bowers. He is sensitive, is that dog and dog No. two has found the fact out.
