Does someone have information regarding the Margaret Bowers who appeared in 1860 federal census records for Montgomery County, Indiana; Sugar Creek Twp. as head of household? With Margaret were two males and one female. One male, age 19 was John. The other male was 21 and the female was 17. I cannot discern the names of the 21-year-old male or the female.
I have some reason to believe that 19-year-old John may have been my husband's great-grandfather, husband of Elizabeth and father of Jacob, William, and Emma. John's wife had died by 1880 and the children were placed in different homes in Knox County, IN. John remarried and fathered another son, George, but John had died by the mid 1880's--and George had joined his half-brothers in Arkansas by 1900.
Any information concerning Margaret would be greatly appreciated including names of the 21-year-old male and 17-year-old female in her household in 1860.
