I'm wondering if your Colonel Henry Bowerman is related to a Henry Bowerman in my family tree (or possibly the same person). There are similarities, which makes me think there may be a connection.
The Henry Bowerman I'm looking for has been listed as Cornet Henry Bowerman, who, according to thepeerage.com, citing Burke's Irish Family Records, was from Cooliney, County Cork, Ireland.
Here is the info:
Cornet Henry Bowerman married Katherine Purdon, daughter of Maurice Purdon.
Cornet Henry Bowerman lived at Cooliney, County Cork, Ireland.
Child of Cornet Henry Bowerman and Katherine Purdon:
[S47] Hugh Montgomery-Massingberd, editor, Burke's Irish Family Records (London, U.K.: Burkes Peerage Ltd, 1976), Blakeney, page 123. Hereinafter cited as Burke's Irish Family Records.
The Elizabeth Bowermen listed as their daughter married William Blakeney of Mt. Blakeney, Co. Limerick. Their son was Lord William Blakeney. It is believed, though not documented, that my family descended from another of their sons.
If any of this sounds familiar, please contact me.
