From Valley Chronicle, March 8, 1895:

A. G. Bower Dead.
A.G. Bower, long a citizen of St. Charles, died at DeKalb on Monday, of old age. His years were 84. Mr. Bower came to St. Charles 45 years ago; and for a long time was in the drug business with Major Van Patten. A number of years ago he moved to DeKalb, where he and his wife resided with their son, Harry, who is in the employ of the Northwestern railroad.

Everybody among the older residents was acquainted with Mr. Bower. His home for many years was on the site now occupied by Mr. F.P. Haviland's residence. He was a quiet and unostentatious man, but enjoyed the association of friends.

The remains were brought to St. Charles on Thursday, and were interred at the North cemetery. The funeral services were in the charge of the St. Charles lodge of Odd Fellows, of which the deceased was long a member.
