Saint Charles (Illinois) Review, June 27, 1879

A picked nine from St. Charles go to DeKalb, July 11th, to play with the "boss" nine of that village. The following is a list of the players and their positions: Rick Garrity, catcher; Matt Kelley, pitcher; John Bower, short stop; Frank Kingsbury, 1st base; William Miner, 2d base; Frank Kelley, 3d base; George Ross, right field; John Zabriskie, center field; Tom Moran, left field. The boys are practicing nightly on the bogs in front of the "Pioneer," by playing knock up and catch, etc. This wont do, they must get down to business on the diamond, if they would win. They have a good nine. Let them be diligent.
