Connection between Thomas McCoy Bowen and Edward Bowen of Grimes, TX?

trying to figure out a connection between Edward Bowen(1831-1912) , son of John C. Bowen, and Thomas McCoy Bowen, s/o Christopher Clark Bowen (1789-1845). Both migrate from GA to Grimes Co. TX. Between them, they marry 3 sisters (daughters of Joel Wingfield Terrell, who also migrated from GA to Grimes). How are Edward and Thomas connected? They are not brothers, and I'm not convinced they are 1st cousins.
