I am researching Rebecca Sophia Bowen, who was born in 1804 in Nova Scotia. I believe her family was originally from Massachusetts and New Jersey -- but fled to Canada after the Revolutionary War because they were loyalists.
Rebecca grew up in Burford, Ontario and was buried in Dresden, Ontario. She married William Van Allen (son of Henry Van Alen and Wentje/Winnifred Rapelje) in 1820 and they had 10 children.
I have been told her father was William Daniel Bowen. His father and mother may have been Daniel Bowen (Loyalist) and Sarah Daniels. If so, this line can be traced back to Obadiah Bowen who emigrated from Wales to Mass in the mid 1600's.
I have no info on her mother or siblings. Would appreciate any additional info or confirmation of any of the above.
