Seeking information on my ancestor, Captain George Bowen, English Sea Captain, m. Mary Margaret Farr (Pharr) in Charleston,S.C.,both died in Charleston (Yellow Fever), buried in Charleston, SC, St. Phillips Epis. Church,Chancel. I am interested in knowning who his parents were, if he had siblings, and where he came from.
His one surviving son, George Bowen was born in Charleston,S.C.was raised by a Mrs. Cunningham, maybe in Cuba. This son married Maria Tabitha Conant 8 March 1810, bought property Laurens Cty,SC, Waterloo,later bought property in Mississippi, had a plantation called Millwood. He and his wife and many of his children are buried in Mississippi,Chickasaw Cty.
Children born to Geo. & M. Tabitha were: Maria Bowen, Louisa Bowen, Mathew Irvin Keith Bowen, Charles O'Neale Bowen, Mary Elizabeth Bowen, Richard Cunningham Bowen, Harriott M. Bowen, Ariana Bird Bowen, Antionette Bowen, and George W. Bowen (b. 26 Dec 1830). Thanks!
