A William Bowls was a witness at the marriage of my gggg Grandparents John JOHNSTON and Sarah CLARK in Orange Co. NC in 1797. They named their first son John Clark JOHNSTON and their first daughter Elizabeth Bowls JOHNSTON. When I did a search on William Bowls(thinking he might be a relative....since Bowls was Elizabeth's middle name), I came up with an Elizabeth BOWEL who married a John CLARK in 1709 in Essex England. I've wondered where the Elizabeth Bowls name came from. And granted this is only a very coincidental lead, but it's a hot one!
