Our Bove' family also had the accent over the "e". Though they were German speaking people from Dollendorf, there was a lot of talk about a French side of the family. In my research, I have found that approx 90% of the Boves came from Italy with the remaining 10% from Germany (Alsace-Lorraine, and so on) and Spain. There is even a branch of Boves in England. I think that the Italian/Tyrolian Boves emigrated into the France/Luxembourg/Germany areas during the 16th and 17th centuries and adopted the customs and tongues of the area. It is entirely possible that we all have the same origins. I have the names and addresses of several Bove researchers; if you are interested, please contact me.
