I don't know if this is your family, but I offer the following. John Boutwell, along with brothers William and Burton are enumerated in the 1800 Census of Barnwell Co, SC. These three brothers purchased items from the estate of their father, Lionel Boutwell. John has children, Stephen, Chappell and Robert--I think there are others. Stephen was born Abt. 1795 in SC, and died Bef. 1870 in Holmes Co, FL. He married RACHEL Abt. 1824. Stephen has a daughter, Maria, born abt 1840. Many of the children of Stephen, including son, William Robert, moved into Monroe and Conecuh counties in AL. William Robert is buried in Flomaton.

I wonder if this Maria could be your Charity Mariah? This is the only name in my records for this family and this part of AL, that comes close to matching your Mariah.

There are a lot of Boutwells on the 1850 GA census that do not appear in the index. I haved read a lot of GA county census to get information on them.

Joan
