My mother was Marie Emily Cahanin b 2/03/07 in Opelousas, La. Her mother was Philomene Malvina Richard, b. 16 Oct. 1866 in Opelousas. Her mother was Marie Nathalie Benguerel b. 29 June 1840. Her father was George Benguerel b.May 1829 at Opelousas, and her mother was Leontine Boutte b. 5 April 1810 in Opelousas. Her parents were Jean Leon Boutte b 30 March 1787 at Opelousas and Lise Chachere b. 4 Jan 1792 in St. Martin Parish. Jean Leon Boutte's father was Antoine Boutte, who married Francoise Hyacinth De Gruis at St. Martinville 12 July 1778. I would be interested if anyone can add anything to the above. Please feel free to contact me. My mother did receive small royalty checks yearly from the Oil drilling on the property belonging to Francois Zenon Boutte. I have the claim number used by the Parish of Jefferson back in 1963. If drilling is now taking place, how can we find out information?
