Obituary - 12/3/1928
Mrs. Mary Ellen Boutelle, former resident of this city and mother of Addison J. and Mayor Will L. Boutelle died in her home in Omaha, Nebraska, late Saturday night at the age of 87. She was in Galesburg in October. An honored guest of Lincoln-Douglas debate she furnished a story for the Register-Mail. Born April 3, 1841 in Schenectady, N.Y., daughter of James and Ann McDonald Hostir. She attended schools there. She was a young girl when her parents moved West, settling on a farm near Wataga, Illinois. She taught school at Center Point and Ontario. She married Josiah Boutelle and lived on a farm near Rutland, LaSalle Co., until the his death in 1872. He left her with five children, all born on the farm. With her family, she moved to this city until 29 years ago and went to Omaha to live with son Jame and her daughters, Miss Carrie and Anna. While living here, she was a member of the Old First Church, later called the Central Church. She was the last of her fathers family. Survivors include daughter Anna, teacher at the school for crippled children, son James, in business in Omaha, Neb., sons Addison Johnathon, attorney, Will L. this city, daughter Carrie, teacher for years in Omaha. The body arrived Tuesday afternoon to be taken to Den Funeral home. Services will be Wednesday at Central Church.

William L. Boutelle bio:
Elected Mayor of Galesburg, Illinois in 1927 and died in 1929 while serving his second term.

1863-1898 Galesburg High School Graduates and the 1899 Galesburg High School attendees identified in the book History of Galesburg High School, compiled and published by Roy Livingston Piatt in May, 1899.
