Sorry: not the Monroes who emigrated to Canada as Loyalists; it was the Bearisto family who had lived in the Boston/Cambridge area. My ancestor apparently moved there to find work--they were ship's carpenters and mariners--James Monroe married there to Margaret Bearisto in 1874. Must have been some lively political discussions around the dinner table!
