To my knowledge NO ONE has proven the origin of our common ancestor Jacques Bourgeois, surgeon, who came to Acadia and married Jeanne Trahan. We know from records that he was the brother in law of Germain Doucet dit Laverdure. Many people state that Germain's wife was named Marie, some say Jeanne, some say Marie Jeanne. Was his wife a Bourgeois?? Unknown. Was Germain Doucet's wife a Trahan, sister to Jeanne Trahan (see above)?unknown.
The thesis that our Jacques is the baby Jacobus born to Marguerite Bourgeois and Nicholas Grandjehan is NOT proven in any way.
The blood link between that baby and our ancestor Jacques, surgeon, who lef LaRochelle
MAY NOT have existed at all. It may well be the wrong baby. It could be the result of someone's vivid imagination. I have done research for over 25 years, for 10 years in France, with the help of correspondents. I lose patience sometimes when I read all these unproven possible hypothesis presented as truths. Regards, Marielle
