Hi Jennifer,

I found the marriage record that you are referring to. Napoleon Bourgeois age 26 was a widower and Delma Brine age 36 was a widow at the time of their marriage.

I found Louis Napoleon Bourgeois born June 16, 1874 at Cap Pele, son of Ferdinand Bourgeois & Emilienne LeBlanc. This has to be the same Napoleon Bourgeois that you are looking for. Ferdinand Bourgeois was the son of Frederic Bourgeois & Marie Melanson and he married on Oct. 3, 1867 Emilienne LeBlanc daughter of Pacifique LeBlanc & Marie Anne Landry.

On that same marriage record it says that Delma Brun was from Bouctouche. I looked through my records but could not find any Delma Brun born around that time, in fact I could not find any Anselme (Samuel) Brun at all. I am wondering if her maiden name was Brun (Brine) or if that was her previously married name. I am also wondering if the church records recorded her as 'Delma'. I have come across 'Delina' quite often which is short for Adeline but only one Delma and she was born a lot later that your Delma.

Sorry I couldn't help you with the Brine side of your search but at least you have the Bourgeois side for your records. I will keep looking though as I am trying to put together all of the Brine families of the Minudie area of Nova Scotia.

Lois
