Hi There,

I am writing this post after many years on and off trying to piece my grandmother's notes together.

My grandmother decends from a Buckea Family, her great grandparents being Peter Buckea and Maria Margaret White who married in 1837 in Bethnal Green,Middlesex, England. It has been handed down in the family as folklore that The family is from a line of multiple Peter Buckeas, but that the first one from France, a Huguenot silk weaver, came as Pierre Bouquet and had a brother William or Guilliame. After a shipping accident ??? Pierre ( and family??) arrived safely after floating ashore (where?) but his brother William who had the gold (really ???) sank with his gold.
So, Pierre Bouquet, is listed in my grandmothers notes as the one we descend from, no dates, no names of children or marriage or even places where he lived.

So far we have
Peter Buckea marrying Eleanor Turpin 1763 Bethnal Green

Isaac Buckea a witness to this marriage !! This is my current line of research - how is he related - Isaac Bocquet has about 5 different spellings from Bocquet to Buckea in the christenings of his children, with anne - i believe he is a major clue in learning which line of Bouquet we descend from.

Peter and Eleanor had a son Peter Buckea, amongst other children
This Peter Buckea married Sarah Prowse.
They had children and our Peter Buckea who married Maria Margaret White.

Peter and Maria Margaret White had children, Emma Matilda Buckea being the grandmother of my grandmother.

All 3 Peter Buckea s i descend from were Silk Weavers.

I believe that our Peter Buckea is somehow related to the Isaac Buckea who was a witness at his wedding. There was also a Simon Buckea also written as Simeon Bocquet in the Bethnal Green baptisms. I think this is another link. AS there are many Isaac Bouquets and only one Simmeon Bouquet, Threadneedle St French Church, I am trying to follow that line of Bouquet as a possible link.

What I see is that by the 1750's the name Bouquet, Bocquet etc was changing to Buchee, Buckea, Bockkeye etc as people were moving from using the Threadneedle St French Church and using Christchurch Spitalfields and St Dunstan Stepney and eventually 1750's, 1760's Bethnal Green.

I would appreciate any insight or any other families research. I have Abraham Buckea families who left wills who have Isaacs and I am also hoping they provinde links as they married into Postye, Went, Agombar families.
