Another thing... In Perry County, Indiana, a Sarah or Sally Boultinghouse married on 23 April 1837 a Peter Sampley so your suspicion that the name may be Sampley not Sampler is probably correct.
Also in that county, a William Boultinghouse married on 7 Aug 1825 Rosanna Gibson, and a Joseph Boultinghouse who could be son of William married 15 Oct 1848 to Cynthia Mallory. Another William Boultinghouse married in 1843 to Almira Mallory. Although this William and Joseph could be brothers, William is too old to be a son of the William who married Rosaan Gibson. William isn't a common name in Boultinghouse at that time.
