Vicki Let me try this again! I found John Boultenhouse / Boultinghouse's pension claim from the Revolution at the David Library of the Revolution (Washington Crossing PA) on microfilm of pension claims. In it there were two affadavits by two brothers who grew up in Hanover, Morris Twp NJ with John Boultenhouse / Boultinghouse. The only father I can find for him would by George Boultenhouse who I suspect is father of my loyalist Bedford Boultenhouse. I also found in the Carleton Papers (at same library) on film, that the George Boultenhouse family had been protecting a child of Steven Millege who had gone over to the British side and was in NY. There is also a record of a land deal between George and Millege about the same time. It's not unusual for families to be split between tory and whig causes. The affadavits said that John did not return to NJ until after the peace in 1783, so he did spend some time back in NJ and then left again at some time; it appears that he went to NY state, likely upstate NY in my opinion, and then on to Ohio.
