Vicki >>Catherine didn't marry Henry Roe til 182l. If John was her father, where was she in 1820? <<< Good point; she'd not be listed if married, but the marriage was fairly soon after; wonder if somehow it's still the reason? We need more info on when John went to Ohio and with whom. Maybe another bit of circumstantial evidence will help. Catherine hasn't been listed by others as child of John (rightly or wrongly) in NY. John was old enough that she could be a grand-daughter or grand-niece? >>Henry moved to California. The 1880 Census lists Henry & his father as both having been born in NY. He claimed his mother had been born in Germany. I have the names of his children & their spouses. << You've lost me on the Henry's. Henry son of John? Son of Henry? John sure wasn't alive in 1880 and Henry son of John would have been very old. Henry son of John the Rev war vet was born in NY. I'd appreciate it if you'd email me the details on that family. >> There was a John Boultinghouse listed as a voter in the 1/11/1803 election in Washington Twp., Clermont Co., OH. There was a Lisa Bottinghouf who married a Jonathan Wier 12/4/1806 in Clermont Co., OH. << Are those month / day or day / month dates? The system used in the US is different from that used everywhere else so I like to know which system is being used. And thanks for this info. >> I have a copy of the inventory for Daniel Bouttenhouse who died intestate in Morris Co., NJ. His wife was listed as Saphina Bouttenhouse << Yes, that one appears in NJ will books. His wife was Saphira Martin. He died young and apparently without children. It's interesting that the "largest creditor" who took over the administration wasn't actually owed very much but he managed to pad his costs of administration so it used up every penny of Daniel's meagre estate. I have no further info on Saphira; she undoubtedly remarried. Alec
